San Diego Youth Services Welcomes Jonathan Castillo as New Chief Executive Officer, Effective July 1, 2025
On behalf of our Board of Directors, we are happy to welcome Jonathan Castillo as San Diego Youth Services’ new Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2025. Jonathan is replacing our current Chief Executive Officer Walter Philips who is retiring on June 30, after 25 years at SDYS.
Jonathan joins SDYS from PATH, where he has served as the Chief Regional Officer for the past five years, driving the operations and design of housing and support services for individuals experiencing homelessness and managing a $52 million budget across three counties.
Jonathan’s drive and passion are fueled by a need to serve those who are marginalized and unable to advocate for themselves. He is thrilled to join SDYS as our next CEO so that he can continue to champion ending homelessness and provide opportunities to all youth, regardless of their circumstances.
We are confident that with his strong vision and leadership, Jonathan will steer SDYS into its next chapter of transformative growth, building upon our strong foundation and continuing to expand our impactful services.
We are grateful to Walter for his tremendous impact over the last 25 years and look forward to Jonathan building upon his legacy during his tenure at SDYS.
Please join us in welcoming Jonathan to our San Diego Youth Services team!
Sincerely,
San Diego Youth Services Board Chair Tim Ducker
San Diego Youth Foundation Board Chair Heather Stewart
