In Memoriam: Chef Mark Blaauboer

The world just lost an amazing soul. We are so sad to share the passing of one of our supporters, and friend, Chef Mark Blaauboer. With his upbeat personality, Chef Mark always took the time to listen and share his talents.

In 2008, he made a personal commitment to San Diego Youth Services to help raise funds for San Diego’s homeless and most vulnerable youth. He joined us in building our signature annual event, Creations in Chocolate. Creating the most extraordinary designs in chocolate, Chef Mark was instrumental in Creations in Chocolate becoming our main fundraising event, raising more than $1 million to create better lives for disadvantaged youth. Chef Mark, and the culinary students he mentored and inspired, participated in Creations in Chocolate over the last 12 years. We are so grateful for Chef Mark’s giving heart and all that he did for San Diego Youth Services. He was truly an amazing chef and a gift to all who had the honor of knowing him.
