Youth Action Board Creates Award-Winning Video

Youth Action Board Creates Award-Winning Video March 26, 2024

We are happy to share that as part of our Youth Suicide Prevention Campaign, our Youth Action Board members entered a monthly contest with Directing Change Program.

Under February’s prompt, You Are Never a Bother,  they submitted a video about how they would let a friend or someone close to them know that it’s okay to reach out for help, and our YAB members’ TikTok video tied for the first-place winner. Congratulations Alli, Kaylie and Daniella and advisor Nicole Chung, San Diego Youth Services’ Youth and Cultural Specialist.

Our Youth Action Board consists of youth leaders that have or are receiving services at San Diego Youth Services and would like to take an active role in advocacy and public awareness around homelessness and other issues affecting youth. Learn more about YAB here.

San Diego Youth Services was recently awarded a grant from The Center at Sierra Health Foundation in partnership with the California Department of Public Health, to create a Youth Suicide Prevention Media and Outreach Campaign to reduce suicide. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among adolescents and young adults aged 15 to 24 in California. The campaign’s goal is to reduce suicide, suicide attempts and self-harm behavior for disproportionately impacted youth.
